Grover Cleveland Wilkes, Jr., 74, of Savannah, died Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2003 at his residence, under the care of Hospice Savannah, Inc.
He was born in Montgomery County, GA. and was a Veteran having served in the U.S. Army, during the Korean Conflict. He was a Baptist, and was retired from Union Camp Corporation, after 31 years of service, as a Scaleman. He was a member of Roger Lacey Lodge # 722, F. and A.M's., and the Scottish Rite Consistory - Valley of Savannah. He was a former member of the Bee Keepers Association.
Survivors: wife of 42 years, Jean English Wilkes, of Savannah; two daughters and son in law, Linda Medina of Savannah; and Susan and Bill Robertson, of Savannah; two sisters, Della Mae Tharpe and Linda Elizabeth Wilkes both of Soperton, GA; two grandchildren, Katelyn Robertson and Aaron Robertson, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday at the Hubert C. Baker Funeral Home-Hodgson Memorial Chapel.
Funeral Services: 11:00 a.m. Saturday in the Chapel of the Hubert C. Baker Funeral Home-Hodgson Memorial Chapel, with Rev. Archie Seabrook, officiating.
Burial: Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers: Bill Robertson, Will Watson, Scott Baker, Larry Rollin, Larry Berg, and Cliff Sikes.
Remembrances: Hospice Savannah, Inc., 1352 Eisenhower Drive, Savannah, GA 31406.
