    LOIS MILDRED WHEELER REGISTER
    April 12, 1922 - January 24, 2013

    Lois Mildred Wheeler Register, known as “Granny Lois”, died at the Haven Hospice in Lake City, Florida. She was born April 12, 1922 in Needmore, Florida, located in the North Florida area near Oak Grove. She lived her entire life in Columbia County. Lois was the daughter of the late John Henry and Huron Robinson Wheeler. She was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters: Carrie Bell Register, Avvie Mae Bryant, Ola Kapes, Pauline Harden, BM Wheeler, Marvin Wheeler, Buster Wheeler, Elmer Wheeler, Milton Wheeler, Bill Wheeler and Curtis Wheeler.

    Lois considered herself the richest woman in the world because of the love for her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, along with her nieces and nephews and all the extended family and friends she acquired through her walk in life. Lois loved to cook and feed anyone who came into her home. Her most loved dishes were fried chicken, fried venison and homemade biscuits, along with her chocolate cream cheese, coconut, hard chocolate and pound cakes.

    Granny Lois was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, William Bill Register, their 3 children, James Register, Mike Register and Grace Register Sirkis and son-in-law, Don Suhl.

    She is survived by her 6 children: Dr. Jerry (Pam) Register; Sonya Suhl, Cindy (Howard) Spradley, Patty Register, daughter-in-law, all of Lake City; Steve (Teresa) Register of Dade City, FL; Vicky (David) Estep of Yulee, FL; Phyllis (Ralph) Douglas of Providence, FL.; special nieces, Diana Snelgrove (Wayne) and Anna Mae Puttere. Twenty-four grandchildren: Jay Register, Kelly Register, Andy Register, Gordon Register, Lynn Register, Tiffany Register, Terri Bowdoin, Jeff Estep, Amy Chapman, Chris Register, Matt Register, Levi Register, Jessica Register, Will Douglas, Allison Chamberlin, Tony Creel, Andy Creel, Cindy Lynn Lang, April Register, Crystal Register, Jennifer Bedenbaugh, DJ Suhl, Ashley Register, and Candace Register. 34 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren also survive.

    Visitation with the family will be held at Christ Central Ministries of Lake City from 1pm - 2pm with services beginning at 2pm on Monday, January 28, 2013. Dr. Robert Harden (nephew) and Andy Register (grandson) will be officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery.

    Grace Register Sirkis, 65, passed away on Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at The Health Care Center of Lake City.
    She was the daughter of William and Lois Wheeler Register.

    She was a lifelong resident of Lake City. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother that loved being on the water, whether it was at the beach, sailing on the ocean, water skiing, or just sitting by the river. She was a member of Westside Baptist Church.

    She is preceded in death by her brothers, James and Michael Register and her father, William Register.

    Survivors include her mother, Lois Register of Lake City, FL; her husband of 22 years, Stanley Sirkis of Lake City, FL; daughter, Amy (Dean) Chapman of Lake City, FL; brothers, Jerry (Pam) Register of Lake City, FL and Steve (Teresa) Register of Dade City, FL; sisters, Vicky (David) Estep of Yulee, FL, Phyllis (Ralph) Douglas of Lake Butler, FL, Cindy (Howard) Spradley of Lake City, FL, Sonya (Donnie) Suhl of Lake City, FL; grandchildren, Blake & Blair Chapman also survive.

    Memorial services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, December 2, 2011, with Pastor Elmer Crews officiating, in the chapel of Gateway-Forest Lawn Funeral Home.

    Billy Mike "Mongo" Register, 52, of Lake City went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 9, 2010 following an extended illness. Mike played football for Columbia High School and graduated in 1976.

    Mike loved to ride in the woods. He was a true friend to those in need. He was a loving Son, Father, Papa, Brother, Uncle and Friend.

    Preceded in death by his Father, William "Bill" Register and Brother, James A Register.

    Survivors include his Mother, Lois M Register; Two Daughters, Candace Register and Ashley Register; Three Grandsons, Austin, Cameron and Konnor all of Lake Butler, FL. Five Sisters, David and Vicky Estep of Yulee, FL; Stan and Grace Sirkis, Howard and Cindy Spradley, Don and Sonya Suhl all of Lake City, FL, Ralph and Phyllis Douglas of Providence, FL; Two Brothers, Dr. Jerry and Pam Register of Lake City, FL; Steve and Teresa Register of Dade City, FL. Sister-in Law, Patty Register and Special Nephews Kelly and Zach Register of Lake City, FL.

    A Celebration of Life Service will be held today Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at Christ Central Ministries. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the grandsons college fund. Donations may be sent to Dr. Jerry Register at 1233 SW SR. 47, Lake City, FL 32025, (386) 755-4379.
