- Vidalia - Mrs. Geraldine Galbreath Halligan, age 83, of Vidalia died January 19, 2018 at Augusta University Medical Center in Augusta, after a sudden illness. She was a lifelong resident of Vidalia and a member of New Corinth Baptist Church. She loved her family, working in the yard, eating, and calling the radio station in Lyons to speak with Barney about songs as the musical critic She was preceded in death by parents, Lloyd and Annie Galbreath and son, "Little" Jack Halligan.
Mrs. Halligan is survived by nine children, Brenda Fenley and husband Tony of Warner Robins, Sherman Halligan, James “Gator” Halligan, Mike Halligan and wife Penny, Carl “Bull” Halligan and wife Vickie all of Vidalia, Connie Dean Halligan of Macon, Nancy Lawrence and husband Billy, Glenda Haggard and husband Jimmy, and Shirley Morgan all of Vidalia; one sister, Ida Maude Viar of Savannah; two brothers, Colon Galbreath and wife Mary of Vidalia and Ernest Lloyd Galbreath of Santa Claus; fifteen grandchildren; and sixteen great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held Monday, January 22nd at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Reverend Bob Corley officiating. Burial will follow in Lakeview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday afternoon from 1:00 until just prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association at www.heart.org.
