Mr. Miles Blaxton - VIDALIA - Mr. Miles Blaxton, 75, died Monday. Survivors: sisters, DeAvis Blaxton Williamson, DeAnne Blaxton Shiplett and Jackie W. (Wayne) Wilkes; brother, A.L. Miles Blaxton, age 75 of Vidaiia, died Monday, October 5, 2009 in the Community Hospice House in Vidalia after a brief illness. He was a native and lifelong resident of Montgomery County, and retired from the U.S. Air Force with twenty-five years of service. He served two tours of duty in Vietnam, and was the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal, and during his service he was stationed around the world. He retired from Robins Air Force Base, and attended Calvary Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Powell Blaxton, and his parents, Lester Miles Blaxton, Sr., and Dorothy DeAlva Palmer Blaxton.
Mr. Blaxton is survived by three sisters, DeAvis Blaxton Williamson of Vidalia; DeAnne Blaxton Shiplett of Vidalia; and Jackie W. (Wayne) Wilkes of Alston, one brother, A.L. (Mary) Wilkes of Vidalia, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 7 at 1:00 pm in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall with Reverend C. B. Easterlin officiating. Interment will follow in the Pinecrest Cemetery with Military Honors. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00. Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home of Vidalia is in charge of arrangements.
