Sylva - Ruby Coggins, 74, of Skyland Care Center, died Wednesday, February 4, 2009, at Mission Hospitals, Memorial Campus.
A native and lifelong resident of Jackson County she retired as a housekeeper in 1995 from Western Carolina University after over 30 years, she was a member of Cullowhee Baptist Church, daughter of the late Harley and Nell Wilkes Coggins, she was also preceded in death by two brothers, Harry Lee and Monroe Coggins and her twin sister, Ruth Wilson.
Surviving are three sisters, Stella Parker of Tuckasegee, Katherine Potts of Marysville, Washington, Kim Poteet of Cullowhee; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Melton-Riddle Funeral Home Chapel, with the Revs. Tonya Vickery and Dr. Jeffery Vickery officiating. Burial will be in Fall Cliff Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
