- She was the daughter of Alexander S. amd Elizabeth Branch Henry, granddaughter of John Emmett Henry and his first wife Martha, and of Rachel Branch, who gave birth to Nancy before becoming the second wife of John Emmitt Henry. Great grand daughter of David and Charity Hagan Branch. Ruth Henry Wilkes, a 10 year old daughter, and an infant, whose names are unknown, all were killed in a cotton-gin accident when the girl, holding the infant too close to the gin, allowed the infant to be caught in the machinery. In futile rescue efforts, both the girl and her mother also were pulled into the machinery. Buddy later married Ruth's younger sister, Rachel, by whom he had no children. Buddy, Ruth, and the two children are buried in unmarked graves in Mount Zion Cemetery near Rockledge, next to Rachel's grave, which is marked.
