Mr. Donald Robert “Donnie” Suhl, 58, of Lake City, Florida died Monday, May 24, 2010. Donnie was born to Bernard and Opal Taylor Suhl in Breese, Illinois on May 21, 1952 and has been a resident of Lake City since 1975. Donnie graduated from Centralia High School and was looking forward to attending his 40th class reunion in June. He worked with AT&T for nineteen years prior to retiring in 1991. He owned and operated North Florida Tower Service for over twenty-five years. Donnie was a loving and dedicated husband and father to his wife and children. Donnie was passionate about fishing, golfing and bowling, along with telling tall tales. He coached bowling and baseball in the community; he was an avid Florida Gator fan and cherished his boat the “Inst-A-Gator”.
Survivors include his beloved wife of nineteen years, Sonya Register Suhl; his son, Donald R. “D.J.” Suhl, Jr. and his daughter, Jennifer Bedenbaugh all of Lake City, Florida; his three sisters, Sally & Norman Tiemann, Richview, Illinois; Judy & Jon Seger and Kathy Shanafelt all of Centralia, Illinois; his nephews, Keith and Todd Gebke, Jason Seger and a niece, Brittany Corners; great-nieces, Carly and Megan Gebke; great-nephews, Brandon and Caleb Gebke, Garrett and Jake Seger; his mother-in-law, Lois Register and his best friend, David Stamper both of Lake City. A large extended family and numerous other friends also survive. Donnie was preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother, Joseph and a brother-in-law, Steve Shanafelt.
Graveside funeral services for Mr. Suhl will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, May 28, 2010 in the Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens with Rev. Lonnie Johns, pastor of Christ Central Ministries officiating. Interment will immediately follow. The family will receive friends Thursday evening, May 27th from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. at their home at 1059 S.E. Press Ruth Drive. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Lake City Youth Bowling Assoc., P.O. Box 7007, Lake City, FL 32056.
