    Cledas Julian Dicks, 89 of Lake City, passed away after a short illness on Monday, June 28, 2021. He was born March 28, 1932 on the farm to the late Edgar and Fanny Rogers Dicks and was a lifetime resident of Columbia County.

    Mr. Dicks was a graduate of the Mason City School class of 1950 and served his country by joining the United States Navy. After returning home from the Navy, he worked several years with Hackney Grocery Company and then worked for the United States Postal Service for 27 years until his retirement. During his life of employment he also made time to farm which was a lifetime passion. He devoted all of his adult life as a follower of Jesus Christ and was a member of Hopeful Baptist Church where he was a Sunday School teacher from a young age and also served on the Board of Deacons for many years.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Clifford Dicks; one sister, Geneva Dicks; and two brothers-in-law, Dan Deveraux and Gerald Wood.

    He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Betty Goodson Dicks; two daughters, Becky Edenfield and Marsha Wallace (Wayne) all of Lake City; three grandsons, Joshua Thomas (Nicki), Lake City, Brandon Thomas (Joclyn), Winston-Salem, NC and Tyler Floyd (Sarah), Lake City; three sisters, Kathleen Wood, Marcel Keen (Sherod) and Gloria Deveraux all of Lake City; and nine great-grandchildren also survive.

    Funeral services for Mr. Dicks will be conducted on Friday, July 2, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Hopeful Baptist Church with Rev. Larry Sweat officiating. Interment will follow at Hopeful Baptist Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Thursday evening from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Gideons International.

    Betty Grace Dicks, 84 of Lake City, went to be with the Lord after an extended illness on June 3, 2024.

    Betty was born to the late Bernard and Edith Goodson in Pelham, Georgia on October 20, 1939. Mrs. Dicks was a graduate of Baker County High School class of 1956. After high school Betty married the love of her life, Cledas Dicks on November 2, 1957. Betty was a stay at home mom with their daughters Becky and Marsha until 1972 when she entered Lake City Community College and earned her Cosmetology Certificate. She was a hairdresser for 45 years in Lake City where she made many lifelong friends and loyal clients. During her adult life she was a member of Hopeful Baptist Church where she was an active Sunday school teacher, leader in the children's department and sang in the choir. She loved to travel with her friends and family and through her years saw many beautiful places. Mrs. Dicks was accomplished at needlework, was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed cooking for her family. She loved flower gardening and also worked beside her husband on the family farm growing crops and vegetables.

    Mrs. Dicks was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Cledas Dicks; and 3 brothers, Bernard, Talmadge and Charles Goodson.

    Survivors include her daughters, Rebecca Dicks Thomas Edenfield and Marsha Dicks Wallace (Wayne) all of Lake City; grandchildren, Tyler Floyd (Sarah), Joshua Thomas (Nicki), Brandon Thomas and Marcie Floyd (Jason); 14 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild, Rylan expected in July; one brother, Kermit Goodson (Sandra), Lake City; one sister, Ethel Swilley, Lake City; and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

    Funeral services for Mrs. Dicks will be conducted on Friday, June 7, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Hopeful Baptist Church with Rev. Larry Sweat and Rev. Ralph Rodriguez officiating.

    Interment will follow at Hopeful Baptist Church Cemetery.

    A time of visitation with the family will be Thursday evening from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
